Materialization of light

For me, born in Okinawa, the underwater world is my origin landscape.
I still remember that, as a child, I felt like I was flying over the coral reef, spending all day long swimming.
“Fotica” is the photic layer where the sunlight can reach from the sea surface. Here, the light reflects off the organic particles, going deep in the ocean, creating a fantastic sight. FOTICA is inspired by one of the mysterious phenomena of light existing in nature.

FOTICA’s main body comes from a unique piece of aluminum. The structure, in which the inside and outside are connected, had a particular design that serves as a lampshade while having a structural and heat dissipator function.
The light spreads upward, softly diffusing into the space, and downward, flowing through the grips and casting a gentle glow on the surface. The light that emanates from the body, gives you a mysterious sense of tangible materiality.

We devised this project with an efficient process that reduces both energy consumption and environmental impact, improving the quality of the light and the production workplace, also thanks to the use of aluminum, a highly recyclable material. It is available in six anodized colorations to coordinate with various spaces; it features high waterproof performances and a long-lasting battery that make this lamp a durable product, suitable for any indoor or outdoor environment, as well as in emergency and disaster situations.

光の物質化

沖縄生まれの僕にとって、海の中の世界は心の原風景です。幼少期、珊瑚礁の上を飛んでいるような感覚になり、一日中夢中になって泳いでいたのを今でも思い出します。
Foticaとは海面から太陽光が届く有光層のこと、ここでは光が有機物などの微粒子に反射しながら海深く差し込み、幻想的な光景を見ることができる。FOTICA はそんな自然界に存在する神秘的な光の現象にインスピレーションを得て誕生しました。

FOTICA の本体はアルミニウムの一体成型となっていることが特徴です。内側と外側が表裏一体となった構造は、強度と放熱機能を保ちながらランプシェードとしても機能するユ ニークな設計となっています。その光は開口部より柔らかく空間に広がると同時に、グリップの溝に美しいグラデーション描きながらテーブルに優しい明かりを落とします。本体を通して溢れ出す光は、まるで光を物質化したような神秘的な感覚を私たちに与えてくれます。　

このプロジェクトは美しい光を追求すると同時に、消費エネルギーを抑えた環境負荷低減を実現する効率的なプロセス、循環型素材であるアルミニウムの採用など、製造環境全体を包括的に捉えたコンセプトによって実現しました。カラーバリエーションはアルマイト加工による 6 色展開、様々な空間でのコーディネートはもちろん、高い防水性能と長時間の使用に耐えるバッテリー機構を持つ照明器具として、屋外や緊急時などあらゆる環境下でも使用できるタフな製品となっています。
